Peak Sports and Spine Physical Therapy - Renton provides caring, outpatient physical therapy treatment in Renton, Washington.
We provide quality physical therapy services in an ethical, convenient and cost efficient environment.
Our rehabilitation clinics are independently owned by physical therapists and serve the entire Eastside of the greater Seattle region.
We are open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. for comprehensive rehab and orthopedic physical therapy.

Clinic Director: Gil Schoos, MA, PT, OCS
Gil Schoos, MA, PT, OCS, a graduate of Washington State University, received his Masters degree and physical therapy training at the
University of Southern California. He is currently recognized by the
American Physical Therapy Association as a Certified Orthopedic Specialist.
Gil originally began his career in 1975 with Valley General Hospital, which is now known as Valley Medical Center.
Beginning as a staff therapist at this facility, he eventually became the Director of Physical Therapy Medicine and
was responsible for all rehabilitation services.
In 1979, Gil opened a private rehabilitation practice located on Talbot Road, Renton Physical Therapy. Over the next
14 years he treated the residents of the Renton area and in 1993, with the Clinton administration and the onset of expected
nationalization of health care, Gil sold his clinic to Valley Medical Center. The Renton Highlands Physical Therapy clinic was opened by Gil in 1998.

Jason Avakian MSPT, OCS, CMPT
Jason graduated from physical therapy school in 1999 from Andrews University in Southern Michigan. Jason has worked for Peak Sports and Spine Physical Therapy since 2001 and has managed the Renton clinic since 2006. In 2005 he became board certified as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy through the APTA. In 2006 Jason was certified as a Manual Physical Therapist from the North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). Jason has worked in the field of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine since graduation and has a special interest in treating Spinal pathologies using manual therapy techniques and exercise. In Jason’s free time he likes to spend time with his family, play in his band and work on his old car.

Lisa Vasek, DPT
Lisa Vasek graduated from Creighton University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2004. She completed her undergraduate work at Allegheny College
in Pennsylvania. While playing soccer for the school she received her bachelors degree in biology. She has an interest in aquatic therapy along with
manual therapy working with spinal problems. In her spare time she enjoys training for distance running and triathlons.

Sara Agassiz, PT, OCS
Sara graduated from the School of Physical Therapy in 1978 from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. She has been actively
employed in Orthopedic physical therapy in management and direct patient care in Washington State and Hawaii. Nine of those years
were directly in Sports Medicine. She has received extensive training in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Fascilitation at the Kaiser
Pemrmanente Residency Program in Vallejo, California. She obtained Board Certification by The American Physical Therapy
Association as a clinical specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1994 and was re-certified in 2004. Ongoing interests
include orthopedics, spinal rehabilitation and manual therapy.

Jill McVey, DPT, ATC
Jill graduated from the DPT program at the University of Puget Sound in May of 2008. A graduate of the Exercise and Sports Science program at Oregon State University in 2004, Jill is also a Certified Athletic Trainer, and has worked with NCAA Division I, II, and III teams, as well as at the high school level. She has experience working most sports from football to lacrosse. Jill has a wide range of occupational interests, including aquatics, neurologic rehabilitation, and sports.
Born in Alaska and introduced early on to the Red Sox Nation, Jill enjoys a variety of hobbies, including hiking, rock climbing, and DJ ing. Jill and her husband are the proud owners of two spoiled rotten cats.

Russell Kowalinski, MS, PT
Russell graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts with a Master’s of Physical Therapy in May of 2008. Russell also completed his undergraduate work at Springfield College receiving a Bachelor’s of Science. He is interested in orthopedics and sports. In his free time, Russell enjoys playing golf, snowboarding, hiking, training for long distance runs, and watching the Red Sox.

Stephen Dean, LMP
Stephen Dean is a graduate from Ashmead College's School of Massage, with additional studies at Bastyr University. He is an active member of the Washington Sports Massage Team, working various events around the state. Prior to joining Peak Sports and Spine Physical Therapy, Stephen spent 3 years as an On Call Licensed Massage Practitioner for a local Chiropractor, and part-time at a personal fitness studio. He has maintained a private practice for the past 5 years.
Stephen was born and raised in the Seattle area, and now resides in Maple Valley with his wife and two teenagers. He left the "corporate" world after 20+ years to work in the health and fitness industry. He has completed 15 Ironman Triathlons, so spends much of his free time swimming, cycling, and running.
